Owain arranged and conducted the inaugural Gig Y Pafiliwn at the National Eisteddfod of Wales in 2016 and 2017. The first gig, held in Abergavenny, featured top tunes by Welsh bands Yr Ods, Sŵnami, and Candelas. Over 1,600 people attended this memorable ocassion which was accompanied by the Welsh Pops Orchestra.
The success of the 2016 event led to high demand for a similar concert in 2017. Held on Anglesey, the second Gig Y Pafiliwn sold out on the first day of ticket sales. The lineup included Yws Gwynedd, Yr Eira, and Mr Phormula, marking the first appearance of a hip hop artist on the Pavilion stage.
Both years featured the Welsh Pops Orchestra and were hosted by Huw Stephens. The concerts showcased Welsh language bands and attracted audiences of all ages, cementing Gig Y Pafiliwn as a highlight of the National Eisteddfod of Wales.
